Cookies policy

Cookies are used for the following purposes: for the operation of the site, for the analysis of the behavior of site visitors, for advertising.

In accordance with the EU “e-Privacy” Directive, in force since May 26, 2012 and with the provisions of Law no. 506 of November 17, 2004 on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector, all visitors to the website are required to consent before sending cookies to their computers.

2. What is a “cookie”?

An “Internet Cookie” (also known as a “browser cookie”, “HTTP cookie” or simply “cookie”) is a small file, consisting of letters and numbers, that will be stored on your computer, mobile terminal or other equipment of a user accessing the Internet. The cookie is installed by a web server’s request to a browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome) and is completely “passive” (does not contain software, viruses or spyware and cannot access information on the user’s hard drive) .

3. Purpose and use of cookies

Cookies are used for the following purposes: for the operation of the site, for the analysis of the behavior of site visitors, for advertising

Cookies play an important role in facilitating access to and delivery of the many services that the user enjoys on the Internet, such as:

Customize certain settings such as:

  • The language in which a site is viewed;

  • The currency in which certain prices or tariffs are expressed;

  • Keeping the options for various products (measures, other details, etc.) in the shopping cart (and storing these options) – thus generating the flexibility of the “shopping cart”;

  • Accessing old preferences by accessing the “Forward” and “Back” buttons.

4. What are the advantages of cookies?

A cookie contains information that links a web browser (user) to a specific web server (website). If a browser accesses that web server again, it can read the information already stored and react accordingly. Cookies provide users with a pleasant browsing experience and support the efforts of many websites to provide convenient services to users: e.g. online privacy preferences, site language options, shopping carts or relevant advertising.

5. What is the lifespan of a cookie?

Cookies are administered by web servers. The lifetime of a cookie can vary significantly, depending on the purpose for which it is placed. Some cookies are used exclusively for a single session (session cookies) and are no longer retained once the user has left the website, while other cookies are retained and reused each time the user returns to that website. (‘persistent cookies’). However, cookies can be deleted by a user at any time via browser settings.

6. What are third-party cookies?

Certain sections of content on some sites may be provided through third parties / providers (eg newsbox, video or advertisement). These third parties may place cookies through another website and they are called “third party cookies” because they are not placed by the owner of that website. Third-party providers must also comply with the law in force and the privacy policies of the site owner.

These cookies may come from the following third parties: facebook.com, twitter.com, etc.

7. How cookies are used by the website

A visit to the website may place cookies for the purposes of:

  • Increasing the performance of the website;

  • Analysis of visitors;

  • Geotargeting;

  • User registration.

8. Other third party cookies

On some pages, third parties may set their own anonymous cookies in order to track the success of an application or to customize an application. Due to usage, the website cannot access these cookies, just as third parties cannot access the cookies held by that website. For example, when a user shares an article using the social media button on a website, that social network will record the user’s activity, not the website on which the button is located.

9. Why are cookies important for the Internet?

Cookies are the central point of the efficient operation of the Internet, helping to generate a friendly browsing experience and adapted to the preferences and interests of each user. Refusing or disabling cookies can make some websites impossible to use. Refusing or disabling cookies does not mean that the user will no longer receive online advertising – only that it will no longer be able to take into account the user’s preferences and interests, which are highlighted by browsing behavior.

Examples of important uses of cookies (which do not require a user to authenticate through an account):

  • Content and services adapted to the user’s preferences – categories of services and products;

  • Offers adapted to users’ interests – retention of passwords, language preferences (eg: displaying search results in Romanian)

  • Retention of child protection filters regarding Internet content (family mode options, safe search functions);

  • Measurement, optimization of analysis features – such as: confirmation of a certain level of traffic on a website, what type of content is viewed and how a user reaches a website (eg through search engines, directly from other websites etc.). Websites conduct these analyzes to improve their services for the benefit of users

10. Security and privacy issues

In general, browsers have integrated privacy settings, which provide different levels of acceptance of cookies, validity period and automatic deletion after the user has visited a specific site.

Other security issues related to cookies:

Customize your browser’s cookie settings to reflect a comfortable level of cookie security for you.

  • If you’re the only person using your computer, you can set long expiration dates for storing your browsing history and personal access data if you wish.

  • If you share access to your computer, you may want to consider setting your browser to clear individual browsing data each time you close your browser. This is an option to access sites that place cookies and to delete any visit information at the end of the browsing session.
